Are you craving to restyle your wardrobe but don’t want to spend money? Here are some ways to revamp your clothing from the clothes that are already in your closet!
Find Inspiration from Influences in Your Life and Social Media
Are you stuck trying to figure out what styles you want to try next? Look to your friends, favorite Instagram fashion influencers, or celebrities to find new or old trends that captivate you! Try pinterest and create mood boards that can help you gain inspiration for different combinations!
Head to Your Closet
Spring cleaning doesn’t just have to be in the spring! Look through your dresser and closet and donate clothes that may not fit you anymore or that you have lost interest in. This will make it easier for you to create outfits out of clothes you like or find some hidden gems you never knew you had!
Start finding pieces that catch your eye and mix them with other clothing combinations you have. A jean denim jacket could go perfectly with a long summer dress. Pairing combat boots and high waisted shorts could be a cool, trendy, and inventive look for chillier days or summer nights!
Don’t be Afraid to Think Outside the Box
Don’t fear mixing different patterns, colors, and textures together. A bright neon shirt might go great with a pink polka dot skirt. The possibilities are endless! As you pull clothes out of your closet, start laying out outfits on your bed or on the floor so you can have more of a visual understanding of how the different pieces of clothing look together.
Find New Ways to Wear Old Things
Need more summer shorts? Trim a pair of old jeans into denim shorts! You can also cut one of your dresses to make it into a romper! If you want something cropped, shorten an old shirt into a crop top. While this requires some understanding on how to cut fabric and sew, there are an unlimited amount of ways you can style certain clothing to feel or look different.
Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize!
You might have some old scarves hanging around. You can use those as new ways to belt your pants! You can also pair jewelry of different colors together with outfits. For example, layer different necklaces like chokers, gold chains or silver lockets. If you’ve lost interest in a pair of heels, add jewels or paint them a different color. Let your creativity flow!
Model your New Clothes
Strut your stuff with the new outfits you’ve created. This will help you see whether you like these different combinations. You’ll also feel proud of all the creative work you’ve done!
Oftentimes, we forget the amount of clothes we have and lose interest in our wardrobe. Usually, there are pieces that we haven’t thought about in years! Then, we tend to turn to retail for new pieces that we eventually forget about as well. By following these tips, you’re saving money, being eco-friendly, and evolving your style game!
So start getting creative and browse your closet, you never know what prized pieces you might find!
